Book Review: Chasing Cassidy by D. Kelly

25466505Cassidy Pope is about to marry her best friend since childhood, Zachary Stafford. He has seen and knows all of her, including the abuse she has suffered when she was just a child.

On the day of their wedding, Cassidy’s demons seem to reappear. The tension and the anxiety are too much, and she runs away before it’s too late, thinking she is doing the best for Zack.

She is sure that the man she loves won’t find her easily, but she is wrong, because Zack goes all the way to find her and let her know that she is the only one for him and tries his best to show her how much he loves her.

Ever since the first pages of this book, I loved it. This is a story of love and forgiveness, and the main reason why I liked it was the closeness of the protagonist Cassidy with my own self. This book deals with abuse but shows that a person can start over and be positive. I related a lot to Cassidy and her fears, because let’s face it, everyone has some. In the situation she has suffered, you would expect a woman who is broken, but she always found the strength to smile and go on. This was also thanks to Zack and Rylee, who were a super supportive boyfriend and best friend.

I think the story was set up very well that I didn’t know what to expect from it. It is about reaffirming one’s love for each other and be confident that with your other half, you can conquer the world and you only need them to live. It doesn’t have much drama but it’s okay, drama isn’t necessary and it is better when situations get resolved in a reasonable way without being dragged too long. The characters have a way to talk to each other that makes you believe they are right in front of you when they talk. What they say it’s simple and it goes to the point without being superficial. I liked that the scenes were long and didn’t end abruptly unlike some novels I read in the past.

The only thing I am sad is that we didn’t get to know who Rylee chose, but I read the sneak peek at the end of the book about her own and I can’t wait to read it to find out because the secondary characters were also excellent and with an interesting personality.

You should read this if you are looking with a light book that treats serious issues that has not so much drama in it and it has the right balance of friendship, love and passion.

hey, you! Thank you for stopping by. I'm Tweety, and I am a girl who loves writing, reading, and watching stuff on TV and write reviews about it. I currently study languages (English and Spanish) @ University here where I live in Italy. I dream to become a teacher or something more impossible, like a writer. For the moment I only write stories on my laptop and review a lot of books. Speaking of which, I'm really into YA despite I am not a teenager anymore, and if you have suggestions, I am always open to hear your book advice! :D
